Millboro
is a small town in Bath County in northwest Virginia. The population for the whole county in 2006 was approximately 4,814 residents. Bath is located near The Homestead, which is a luxury mountain resort in the town of Hot Springs. The resort grew around the area's natural hot mineral springs, such as the Jefferson Pools. Other attractions include the Bath County Farmer's Market, which is available June through October, and the Diamond Triple C Ranch at Echo Valley. This is a working ranch, home to a herd of alpacas. There is a restored 1895 Victorian home and outbuildings at the ranch and visitors are welcome. Children, especially, love getting an up close view of the alpacas and seeing how the farm operates. The Homestead offers acres of mountains for downhill skiing, ice skating, snowboarding, snowmobiling and cross-country skiing. The mountain lodge serves lunch daily and has a deck with a stone outdoor fireplace for those who choose not to ski can sit and watch. There are other state parks and nature trails in the Millboro area, perfect for a weekend getaway or a family vacation. The pace here is slow and definitely off the beaten track. A place to unwind and relax for the whole family.

Northeast Virginia's climate is classified as mild, mid-latitude, with a subcategory of humid subtropical. Northeast Virginia generally has mild winters with no dry season and hot summers. Hurricanes make the coastal areas of Virginia vulnerable, but it's rare for a major hurricane to threaten the Virginia coast as hurricanes that far north tend to weaken due to cooler coast waters and increasingly westerly winds. Heavy rain from tropical cyclones are possible, however. Thunderstorms are an occasional concern with the state averaging anywhere from 30-50 days of thunderstorm activity annually, but the highest area of occurrence is towards the west.
