Rockbridge-Baths
is an unincorporated community located in Rockbridge County in northwest Virginia. Rockbridge County was created in 1778 from portions of Augusta and Botetourt counties, and was the home of military strategists Thomas Stonewall Jackson and Robert E. Lee. Rockbridge County is centrally located in the very historic and scenic Shenandoah Valley, and was named for the distinctive Natural Bridge, located in the southern portion of the County. Natural Bridge is a geological formation in which Cedar Creek has carved out a gorge in the mountainous limestone terrain, forming a 215-foot arch "bridge" with a span of 90 feet. The bridge has been designated a Virginia Historical Landmark and a National Historical Landmark. Some believe George Washington came to the site in 1750 as a young surveyor, and the initials G.W. which are carved on the wall of the bridge were put there by him. Two major interstates, 81 and 64, service the Rockbridge Baths area. The town of Lexington, the county seat, is located nearby and is the major retail, commercial and governmental center for the area.

Northeast Virginia's climate is classified as mild, mid-latitude, with a subcategory of humid subtropical. Northeast Virginia generally has mild winters with no dry season and hot summers. Hurricanes make the coastal areas of Virginia vulnerable, but it's rare for a major hurricane to threaten the Virginia coast as hurricanes that far north tend to weaken due to cooler coast waters and increasingly westerly winds. Heavy rain from tropical cyclones are possible, however. Thunderstorms are an occasional concern with the state averaging anywhere from 30-50 days of thunderstorm activity annually, but the highest area of occurrence is towards the west.
